John Deere Combines
When it comes to harvesting crops, farmers know that skimping on quality of machinery is not an option. For over a century, John Deere has been the leading farm equipment manufacturer in the world, beginning with a single polished-steel plow in 1837 that led to company's global operating model in place today.
One of farming's most essential machines, the combine harvester, first appeared as a part of John Deere's green fleet in 1927 with the production of the John Deere No. 2. Since the assembly of this groundbreaking machine, John Deere has made great strides in harvesting technology and has kept its crown as king of combines year-after-year.
Deere's newest line of combines, the S-Series, was created with operator comfort in mind as much as the machine's productivity, and was designed to meet the constantly-evolving energy standards of today.
The smallest combine of the series, the John Deere combine S550, offers an operating station with unsurpassed visibility and comfort that is 30 percent larger than the previous model's cab, also boasting a quieter, calmer ride.
But Deere didn't compromise comfort for more power, as the combine features a PowerTech Plus 6.8L engine that can sustain an unloading boost of up to five minutes. The engine was built with automatic fuel priming capabilities, as well as a fuel filter-change indicator.
The mid-size John Deere combine S670 features the company's trademarked ProDrive propulsion system that automatically shifts between two ranges of speed depending on ground and soil condition being traversed. The model is excellent on slopes and hills, as the different speeds allow for different harvest rates. The S670 is powered by a 9.0L PowerTech PSX engine that meets Interim Tier 4 emission standards and is equipped with a variable speed fan that controls functions precisely in accordance with cooling requirements.
For the largest projects, farmers can opt for the S690, which is outfitted with the latest technologies that allow an operator to view real-time measurements of the yield and moisture of a crop as it is harvested. The model features a massive PowerTech PSX 13.5L engine complete with an electronic unit injection fuel system and a variable-geometry turbocharger for improved air delivery.
John Deere continues to raise the bar when it comes to grain harvesting, with a new, highly anticipated line of John Deere combines that were unveiled in late August 2011.
